Your Soul Your Song
Psychotherapy and Counselling
Person-centred psychotherapy and counselling that incorporates the Arts to support your journey of healing and growth.
You’ve gone through some tough times. The ways you’ve coped with life’s challenges before no longer work and you find yourself stuck in a place you don’t want to be. You know life can be better but you’ve lost your bearings.
Hi I’m Shirley, a qualified and registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist, with many years’ experience working within music and health. I bring a variety of soul enriching therapeutic tools, some of which incorporate music, in particular song.

I am a humanistic, person-centred therapist, working with the principle that you are best set to chart your own journey using your unique inner resources. Vocal expression is one such resource.
This style of therapy may be helpful for adults, tertiary students and health care workers experiencing:
Life transitions:
-
Grief and Loss
-
Loss of job
-
Relationship breakup
-
Loneliness
-
Loss of direction
-
Feeling stuck

My Qualifications and Experience

After working for many years alongside very stressed staff, patients and families, as a registered ICU nurse, I started exploring the ways artistic and vocal expression could support and affect a healthy response within the body and psyche.
My drive to understand how the arts can profoundly impact ourselves, led me to pursue appropriate studies which now support and enrich my therapeutic practice.
Through my own personal experience of performance and engagement with music, particularly in song, I have encountered first-hand the enriching and healing properties of the arts.
I have listed my academic credentials below for the purpose of sharing with you valuable elements and foundations of my journey within the world of music, art, philosophy, science, education and spirituality, that now underpin my work in therapy.
